bananas.

six vEry ripe bananas cried out for vindication
in their desire to become a baked good
rather than rot in the refuse.
i complied.

papa banana bread
mama banana bread
baby banana bread

intending to gift the mama size loaf
to a new neighbor, the hubs and i cut into
the baby size loaf. yUm.
agreeing it was worthy of sharing .....

... i slipped it into a bag then tied it
with a string and wrote a short note
of welcome to the 'hood.

do people do that anymore?
gift a new neighbor with a note or more?

the neighbors are using this residence
{typical for our area}
as a vacation home and any attempt
to intercept them failed.
.. as such we slipped the note
at the front door then gifted the bread
to another family. leaving food items out
in our part of the world isn't wise.
bears. etc. & again, bears.

{personal recipe :: not sharing :: please forgive}

32 years married.

in spring the hubs and i both turned 62..
& july 9 we celebrated 32 years married..
& come september we will have known one
another 50 years - meeting in 7th grade
english class. we simply knew each other
through school - then the 10 year class reunion
happened and we reconnected on a whole
'nuther level. nearly 2 years later we married.

the morning of our anniversary ::
i made coffee & put in a to-go thermos.
picking up pastries at our teensie weensie
town bakery we made our way 15 minutes
to a favorite lake, set up our camp chairs,
and enjoyed the view. we were the only ones
there save for ducks and their morning conversation.
the water was like glass and the view breathtaking.
after spending a couple hours in this location
and the arrival then conversation with kayakers,
we chose to head 15 minutes home to put together
a few provisions for a hike in a destination
about 7 minutes from home in another direction
we hadn't yet explored since relocating.
hiking what we thought to be another
lake we soon realized it was more a shrouded
swamp - but the surrounding view lovely - like a
magical forest. and in the afternoon nachos!
at a local watering/fooding spot.
home ... nap ... perfect day.

unexpected joy.

there's something calming
about morning light
with shutters nearly closed,
dishes washed by hand,
a fan whirring nearby,
and the anticipation of a much
needed nap come afternoon
after a very long yesterday
and fitful night.

blessings be yours this day..
keep your eyes open for unexpected joys.

many months of yesterdays.

... and before you know it, time has a way of flittering past yet also a way of standing still. a strange paradox. spring brought forth alterations and additions to our home in the forest, two hearts focused on a deeper walk with Christ, and what some consider the mundane reality of day to day life.

every time the opportunity to blog came about, something else would grab my attention and there the thought would rest for another time. over 3 months rest. warp speed - golly. but here i am, fingers to keyboard actually typing out a few thoughts wondering if there be any one out there still interested to read nonsensical verbiage of a coddiwomple life.

so there you have it. wink.

blessings,
sherry

p.s. i made refrigerator pickled veggies yesterday.
oohhh aahhh....
