bananas.

six vEry ripe bananas cried out for vindication
in their desire to become a baked good
rather than rot in the refuse.
i complied.

papa banana bread
mama banana bread
baby banana bread

intending to gift the mama size loaf
to a new neighbor, the hubs and i cut into
the baby size loaf. yUm.
agreeing it was worthy of sharing .....

... i slipped it into a bag then tied it
with a string and wrote a short note
of welcome to the 'hood.

do people do that anymore?
gift a new neighbor with a note or more?

 the neighbors are using this residence
{typical for our area}
as a vacation home and any attempt
to intercept them failed.
 .. as such we slipped the note
at the front door then gifted the bread
to another family. leaving food items out
in our part of the world isn't wise.
bears. etc. & again, bears.

{personal recipe :: not sharing :: please forgive}

  1. I like to welcome new neighbors with a baked item. It's always well received. Wish I were your neighbor!

    1. we learned that the new neighbors will be using their home as a vacation residence until they retire in about 15 years. when they next come up i'll be sure to make a fresh loaf of something yummy.

  2. It was a sweet thought. I made banana bread last week. I've always used the recipe out of the old Better Homes and Garden Cookbook. Sometimes I add chocolate chips, too. Delish!

  3. You are my kind of neighbor Sherry. My welcome gift is usually cookies. You are right, I definitely would have asked for your recipe lol.

      walk there was a wafting aroma of cookies
      baking. wish i could have learned the address,
