time for blogging
hasn't exactly been on the
first-things-first
list though i'm popping in
now to share just a few images.
more later as time allows.
numerous projects big and small
in place ..... with additional
remodel phases happening
at a later time. bit by bit.
. . . . . . . . .
this clock.
while rather large it makes
this gal hAppy as the first
glance entering our kitchen.
it was a splurge. a hAppy splurge.

Lula the Jelly Cupboard came with us
when we moved to the woods and found
herself perfectly situated with a few
decor pieces jumbled on top including
our wedding picture with
respective grandfather pictures
gracing each side.
a fun striped pumpkin
in one of our wood bowls
situated on a sweet mini quilt top
spilling over the sides,
sewn by our daughter
so long long long ago.
simple setting on our dining room table.
the verticals will be replaced when the
curtains are completed. i'm not a fan
of verticals. anywhere. simply not my thing.
the table is a new purchase for a new home..
its rustic top has metal pieces rammed into
the wood and nailed in place
and enough cross cut saw marks,
gouges and imperfections
to make this shabby lovin' gal
thrilled to the moon and back.
parson chairs are a gorgeous green
tweed beneath the soft
gold slipcovers.
morning light dances
on the rock fireplace.
i was toying with the idea
of painting the rock but
decided against that fleeting
consideration. instead,
i'll make it work.
once a surface like this is painted
you really can't reverse the process
with relative success. it's staying.
glorious autumn color.
this picture was taken
a couple weeks back.
.. beauty while it lasted
giving way to a
significant artistry
in exposed state.
"and as the sun took a step back,
the leaves lulled themselves to sleep
and autumn was awakened."

warmish temps this week..
well, warmish for this area.
chilly mornings as low as 17 degrees.
. . . . . swOon . . . . .
we're amazed by how we've already
acclimated fairly well - so much though
that we keep the interior temp
hovering around 60 degrees.
bring your parka if you visit.
.snicker.
.wink.
!
those cooler temps provide ample
opportunity for soups and stews
and afternoon liquid life
be it coffee or tea -
with pumpkin muffins on the side
and brisk walks up and down
hills and picnics at one of the many
nearby lakes and rose tinged cheeks
and hand holding chilly willy
fingers and socks and sweaters
and scarves and exploring
and wood stove aroma and the
dear deer - - oh so many!
..we're so happy here in this place..
..delight is around every corner..
we're soaking it up offering
gratitude to the One who made
it possible .. bringing peace
to our hearts and glory to Him.
the angular architecture of our home
as well as the truly rustic interior
finds me in a place of challenge
as i'm a through and through
cottage style type gal.
i'm softening the hard edges
and finding the process to actually
work quite well, pleasing both
of us rather unexpectedly.

ReplyDelete{{{ hugs }}} heaven on earth - with it's imperfections and inflections of grace. ♥
DeleteSo very hAppy for you! in this new location. Think it is sweet that you have a pumpkin that your daughter made. Precious.
ReplyDeletethank you, deanna :)
Deleteand for clarification, my daughter sewed the tiny quilt top the pumpkin sits upon. not the pumpkin. <3

DeleteI'm glad you are loving your surroundings. It sounds like it all suits you. Loved seeing bits of your home, and I really like your table - it looks like a sturdy one. The quilt sewn by your daughter is a treasure you will always have, Sherry. And the rock fireplace is nice just as it is. Those beautiful Autumn trees! Isn't this the best season? Thanks for checking in. I know you have lots to do right now working and cleaning and trying to make your house a place to call home. : )

DeleteLove the HUGE clock! It's not over sized but fits perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAlso, glad you are going to paint the fireplace. I know you can make it work.
Looking good!
i'm working around the fireplace ...
Deletewe'll see. ;)
Nesting is simply bliss. You're making such an cozy, and lovely place called home. It takes time to get the "feel" of your home and what you desire to make it. All of what you have done thus far is so sweet, and Sherry, THAT table is to die for! I love the rustic imperfections! I can see you both eating one of your delicious meals there. Hugs, my friend.
