a cup of g'morning.

... the above vintage restaurant ware mug is my current afternoon choice ...

"i can't explain this with science,
but the cup you drink your coffee out of ... matters."

i have a collection of mugs; a small collection compared to others of equal standing in the realm of liquid life penchants, but a collection nonetheless. the mugs are vintage.. found, adopted, loved, and sometimes released to a fresh outlook with a new person, or back to the thrift. if you receive a vintage mug from me consider yourself special. i don't see it as a waste of 25 or 50 cents to adopt and release some months later. call me a spendthrift if you will...

what's important, to me, is the appearance of the vessel, the feel of the vessel (tactile sense is important.. does it fit my smallish hand or do i need two smallish hands with which to hold the mug?), and the type liquid enjoyed from the vessel. the latter could be a post all its own.

there are morning mugs and afternoon mugs and the twain shall never meet. morning vessels hold liquid life slow to be sipped in dim light - alone - as waking takes time. afternoon vessels are small and hold a nearly tar-like substance, brewed with the intention of jump starting my get-a-long to get more done. interesting fact though: that afternoon tar easily lulls me to sleep for a wee bit. it's comforting. an afternoon hug in caffeine cup.

this morning i changed up my routine. at 5:48am i padded down the long hallway to the kitchen and brewed myself a mug of g'morning, then padded back down the long hallway and climbed into bed, adjusting the pillows just so. the hubs was in a semi-wake state and i did my best to annoy him. lovingly of course. but annoy for sure. wink. as he was going to be away from home a good part of the day, being near him was desired. besides, it was cozy warm near that guy and chilly willy popsicle out of covers. so under covers it was.

with the hubs away, my scurry commenced as a long list of 'things' awaited my attention. laundering towels for starters, then setting focaccia to rise, sorting through some papers, making the bed, bathing, dressing, and finally making cinnamon rolls (small batch) as a surprise for the hubs.

while washing dishes in a new bottle of mrs. meyer iowa pine dish soap (love!), i noticed 6 dear deer just beyond our property fencing. there were originally seven in the group - the seventh having a blind eye. we knew she'd not be long for this world and sure enough, now just six. sigh. we're setting up wildlife cameras on our property so hopefully i'll be able to share some footage of those who bring such joy to our days. 'cept for mountain lions and bears. they're magnificent but i don't desire a conversation with their likes.

"this morning i asked God for more of Him.
The answer i received was, 'make room.'" {unk}

a good thought i came across, just above. so often we want more of God but keep the nooks and crannies of our souls shut to his gentle knocking. soften your hearts and allow Him  entrance.  stop talking and begin listening for his voice. He'll fill those empty spaces and give peace that passes all understanding. let Him be your Lord.
